Electronic Arts has confirmed changes across match mechanics, modes and social features for FC 27. This guide pulls together the FC 27 new features officially announced by the developer, without leaks or community speculation, so you can see what's actually changing before launch. Each section below covers a different part of the game, starting with the biggest gameplay changes.

Which Leagues & Clubs Are in FC 27?

The game's licensing database still covers more than 21,000 players, 800-plus clubs and national teams, over 140 official stadiums, and 35 leagues worldwide, backed by partnerships with more than 300 football organisations. None of that is new for FC 27 specifically, but it's the foundation the confirmed changes below build on.
What's New in FC 27: The Headline Changes
Some of this year's changes also reflect feedback EA collected during the closed beta, particularly around physical play, defending, player movement and passing. Four areas make up most of this year's confirmed FC 27 gameplay features:
- The Grounds: a new social hub that blends street football with stadium competition and connects directly to Clubs mode.
- Defending and attacking changes: manual defending controls, dynamic corner kicks, and improved spatial awareness for attacking players.
- A reworked transfer market in Career Mode, with different negotiation logic, more competition from AI clubs, and OVR ratings that shift with form and morale.
- A restructured Ultimate Team, including the FUT Gallery and branching Evolution paths for individual cards.
On the pitch, corner kicks now give more control before the ball arrives. Players can position attackers manually, switch players, make runs, shield opponents, and use a new Avoidance mechanic to create space before the cross comes in. Off-the-ball movement has also been reworked, with attackers meant to read the offside line and available space more accurately.
Defending puts more of the responsibility back on the player. Positioning and tackle timing matter more, and the game steps in less to correct a bad decision. Shoulder challenges have been adjusted for consistency, and a new Off-Balance Dribbling mechanic helps agile players keep control of the ball after contact. These changes apply on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
PC players get several fixes this year. Steam launches should involve fewer pop-ups, which EA says can cut time to the main menu by up to 50% on some setups. New graphics presets range from Performance up to Enhanced Ultra Visuals, and a VRAM meter shows how much memory the chosen settings use. EA Connect can now find Steam friends without an EA ID search, and EA recommends dual-channel RAM and an SSD. Full system requirements and edition details for each platform are listed on the FC 27 store page.
The Grounds Explained: FC 27's New Social Hub

The Grounds is the freshest addition covered in FC 27 news this year: a social hub where street football and traditional 11v11 matches share the same space. Players can join casual kickabouts, take on others in 1v1 duels, or play multiplayer matches with friends, and up to 100 players can be active in a single instance at once.
Clubs mode is built directly into the hub, so players can move between casual matches and developing their custom pro without leaving the space. The Grounds also includes mentors and ways to develop your player and customise your avatar. Rather than routing everyone through separate menus, EA is treating the hub as a shared space where players can socialise, join community activities, and form squads before dropping into a match. The mentor system is meant to help newer or returning players pick up skills specific to the smaller-sided, street-style matches that run alongside the more traditional 11v11 games in the same hub.
Platform support is worth checking before you buy. The Grounds, including the integrated Clubs mode, is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 only. It is not available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, so players on last-gen consoles won't get access to the hub even if they own FC 27.
Career Mode & Ultimate Team Updates for This Season
In FC 27 Career Mode, managers get more to think about off the pitch. The transfer market has been overhauled: other clubs now compete for the same targets, and valuations are meant to behave closer to a real transfer window. Negotiations add performance bonuses and buy-back clauses, giving managers more ways to structure a deal within budget: a manager can pay less up front and make up the difference later, or write a buy-back clause into the sale.
Player OVR is no longer fixed for the season. Good form can push ratings up temporarily, while poor form, low morale or fatigue can pull them down. The reworked Match Fitness system, combining Energy Level and Injury Status, means squad rotation and recovery now have a direct effect on performance in the next match.
For FC 27 Ultimate Team, the new content is built around two pieces. The FUT Gallery gives players another way to build their club identity over time, while branching Evolution paths let individual cards be developed in different directions rather than following one fixed upgrade path. These changes will also shape how players approach their first Ultimate Team squads.
FC 27 New Features: The Bottom Line

FC 27 builds on the existing formula rather than replacing it. The Grounds is the biggest new addition, bringing Clubs into a shared social space on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, but not on PS4 or Xbox One.
Career Mode gets a busier transfer market and a fitness system that punishes squad neglect, Ultimate Team adds more choice through Evolutions and the FUT Gallery, and defending puts more of the outcome in the player's hands. Taken together, this looks like a season focused on refining the systems players already interact with most, rather than a full reinvention of the game.
